Rocky Schenck’s intuitive visual talent has guided his extremely successful career in music video directing and still art photography. A true renaissance man, Schenck embraces all forms of creativity in the visual arts – allowing him to grow and push himself to new limits with each project.
As a 12 year-old boy living in Dripping Springs, Texas, Schenck began his artistic journey as an oil painter, with his first professional sale commencing at age 13. From there he discovered his love of motion pictures through writing, directing and photographing low-budget experimental films.
A self-taught still photographer, Schenck’s work was discovered in 1987 by a New York gallery owner and has since then been exhibited around the world and is included in several prestigious collections. He has been featured in high-profile publications such as Art in America, Artforum and Aperture. His widely popular editorial photography has been featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview, Rolling Stone and Communication Arts.
Schenck has directed well over 70 music videos for artists such as Adele, Marc Anthony, Diana Krall, Donna Summer, Imperial Teen, Joey McIntyre, Stevie Nicks w/ Sheryl Crow, Jerry Cantrell, Van Halen, Pearl Jam, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant w/ Alison Krauss, and Trisha Yearwood to name a few.
In 2008 he received 5 CMT video nominations for work he did over the previous year, including Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ “Gone, Gone, Gone,” Sugarland’s “Everyday America,” and Alison Krauss and John Waite’s “Missing You.” He is currently finishing up his second video for Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ “Please Read the Letter.”
His fine-art narrative approach to photography and moving pictures coupled with a refreshing appreciation for humor and irony have left him in constant demand with top celebrities.
