Francis Lawrence is a film director and noted music video director, with a Latin Grammy winner (Shakira "Whenever Whatever," and multiple Video Music Awards winner. Currently, the Lady Gaga video, "Bad Romance" is receiving wide acclaim and has become one of the most viewed videos of all time on youtube with over 250 million online viewings. Having worked with music artists the likes of Jay Z, Britney Spears, Pink, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Aerosmith, Janet Jackson, on and on. Francis has also directed commercial for such clients as The Gap, Calvin Klein, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, L'Oreal, Bacardi, McDonalds, Disneyland, Oldsmobile, Covergirl and Maybelline.
In 2005, Francis Lawrence made his feature film debut with Constantine, based on the Hellblazer comic book, starting Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz. That was followed up by the 2007 hit movie, I Am Legend, a science fiction-horror-action-disaster film adapted from the Richard Matheson novel of the same name, starring Will Smith.
In 2008, Francis Lawrence was the director of the pilot and several episodes of Kings as well as one of the Executive Producers of that acclaimed series.
Currently, Francis Lawrence is putting the finishing touches on the feature film project Water for Elephants, based on the best-selling novel by Sara Gruen and starring Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz.
